The Company:
Gratis Music is a Production Music Library offering competitive mechanical and synchronization license rates for the use of its digital music (see Rate Sheet). The music is distributed via this web site, mSoft Servers, and Hard Drives.
Please check out the Help Tips & Video section to learn how to navigate this site and use the Search functions. The tutorials will also step the user through the process of downloading full bandwidth files directly from the site.
History:
Gratis Music, formed in 2003 by Jerrold W. Lambert, set out to be the panacea for traditional production music libraries. Geared with pinnacle Composing Talent, Gratis is capable of completely scoring thousands of movies and TV shows without repeating a single cue. Although not as large a company as some of its compeditors, Gratis maintains that quality is more important than quantity and providing clients with the most unique, commercial, and state-of-the-art musical recordings in the indusry is the key to success. Harry Manfredini and Richard Band, both long-time friends and composers, partner with Lambert in this venture -- the common goal -- to be the best!
Since Gratis began in the digital world, all music in the Library has been remastered and edited by leading producers and engineers on the finest equipment possible. Sound files start from first modulation and end upon expiration of sound. Much thought went into titling and categorizing the individual tracks as Gratis consulted with Music Editors within the industry who felt titles in most libraries were misleading and not appropriately represented. Gratis also set out to make Licensing their product simple by offering a short-form, user friendly, Digi-Drop sync and master use license.
In 2007 Gratis entered into an Agreement with mSoft, Inc. whereby mSoft now houses the Gratis Music Database and Master Tracks. The mSoft engine drives the Search portion of this web-site and Gratis Music is available to all mSoft subscribers through in-house mSoft servers. Most recently, users can now access Gratis' music on Digital Hard Drives with mSoft's RESLP technology allowing the user to search the Gratis Database via this web-site, but preview and transfer all cues directly to their desktop in 48K WAV files instantly from the Hard Drive.
It took four years to design the company and acquire the vast catalog of music in the Library. Gratis Music officially announced its entry into the Production Music Library Business at the 2007 NAB show in Las Vegas.
